Who participates in the CSRM Program?
Individuals in schools who serve as business officials, administrators, safety officers, and other personnel responsible for a risk management functions are candidates for CSRM courses. Those who insure schools such as risk pools, insurance carriers, and agents will also benefit greatly from the CSRM courses.
Why did The National Alliance develop a CSRM program?
Our research showed that the risk management industry and the school risk management arena lacked focused classroom risk management educational opportunities. Our research determined that the school risk management community needed a practical, immediately applicable approach for identifying, measuring, handling, funding and controlling their school’s risk. They also needed a customizable textbook that provides answers to current problems along with handy references, action plans, and tools. The CSRM Program was developed to train risk managers and other personnel responsible for risk management functions to address the potential issues faced by schools in today's fast-changing world.
Should I take the courses in any specific order?
We recommend that the courses be taken in the following order: Fundamentals of Risk Management, Handling School Risks, Measuring School Risks, Funding School Risks, and Administering School Risks.
How does CSRM compare to ARM-P (RMPE 352)?
While the two designation programs are similar in that they provide risk management from a public perspective with public risks and exposures, the RMPE course includes information on counties, municipalities and other political subdivisions. The CSRM is specifically geared toward school risks. The CSRM Program is a classroom-based program that focuses on today's school risk management issues. CSRM offers "hands-on" practical solutions using the most current risk management strategies and techniques. While RMPE 352 course uses a national textbook, CSRM curriculum utilizes a continually changing notebook based on current world conditions and events.
ARM-P is designed to be a self-study, four part, theory-based program. Depending on your location, you may be able to participate in a 15-week study group or classes. National exams are offered four times a year. Each of the five classroom-based CSRM courses lasts one day. The CSRM exam is administered at the end of each course and is developed on-site, based on the uniqueness of each course. An annual continuing education requirement must be met to maintain the CSRM designation.
How is the curriculum determined?
Initially, an advisory committee of industry leaders guided the CSRM course of study. Now, curriculum task forces meet regularly to evaluate and update course content.
How much do the CSRM courses cost?
Each affordable one-day course costs $179; workbook and other class materials are included. Online courses are $149 per course. There are also bulk pricing discounts for on line course enrollments available.
Will CISRs receive update credit by attending a CSRM course?
Yes, if the CISR is a dues-paying member in good standing. Each CSRM course is filed with individual states for CE credit.
What are my update options?
The National Alliance requires each individual holding the CSRM designation to attend one of the following in its entirety every 12 months. The update or 12-month period is determined by the CSRM's birth month. One of the following Certificate Programs are available as options:

What is a conferment?

Held three times a year in different locations around the country, the CSRM conferment is a special occasion to recognize a professional milestone. During the conferment, new designees are presented with their gold CSRM lapel pin by the president of The National Alliance, National Alliance board members, or other distinguished representatives of The National Alliance.
