This three-hour classroom course is for insurance professionals interested in learning the methods used to insure flood exposures under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
The course covers both commercial and personal residential flood exposures, and the coverages available to handle those exposures through the NFIP.
Students will learn:
- To recognize the significance of the flood exposure and how the NFIP Policy can meet that need
- The types of properties that can be insured under this insurance form
- Specifics of the NFIP Policy including eligibility, important terms, cause of loss, building and personal property coverage, loss settlement features, and rating factors.
- Limits and deductibles discussion includes:
- Agent's responsibilities at the point of sale and policy renewal
- Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2004
- Proper delivery and presentation of flood coverage information
- Required Acknowledgement of Receipt procedure
- Tips for handling NFIP flood renewal policies.
Loss settlement information provided on:
- Flood insurance claims process and how to describe it to consumers
- NFIP Flood Insurance Claims Handbook
- Claims reporting procedures
- Common claims issues and the appeal process.
